What does it involve?

Goniotomy is a type of glaucoma surgery performed for patients with congenital glaucoma.

When is it carried out?

The procedure involves making an incision directly in the eye’s filtration area, the trabecular meshwork, which is not well developed in these patients, to facilitate the outflow of aqueous humour.

Comprehensive eye examination.

Before the surgery

This surgery can be repeated, if the correct pressure is not achieved.

Surgery

Surgery is performed partially, over 180º of the trabecular meshwork, with the possibility of repeating the procedure, if the correct pressure is not achieved.
